"Oh, what a beautiful city!" That wonderful opening line to one of the great African-American spirituals calls to mind the image of the New Jerusalem come down from heaven found in the Book of Revelation. Thursday Feb 25, 2016
Thursday Feb 25, 2016
Father Kevin begins this reflection by attending first to the invitation found in Isaiah 55 to "come to the water". That invitation finds beautiful expression in Jesus's encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well of Jacob (John 4). The dialogue between the two leads the woman not only to come to know herself and Jesus, but eventually to become an apostle of Jesus to her own community, who also come to believe that Jesus is indeed the Messiah.
